2025 Tournament Rules

General Rules

All games are played under USA Hockey rules.

Warmup: Each game begins with a 5-minute warm up period. Game Format: Three (3) periods, 17 minutes each, stop time. Round Robin Games: If the game ends in a tie there is no overtime.

Teams may dress up to 19 skaters and 3 goalies

Home team is responsible for running the scorer’s box (Game Sheet and Clock)  

IPAD is available in the front office

Penalties 

Minor Penalty: 2 minutes Major Penalty: 5 minutes Misconduct: 10 minutes

  • Any player ejected from a game will be suspended for the balance of the tournament.
  • Any player ejected in his/her team’s final game will be suspended for their first regular season ICSHL game.

Advancement Format

The tournament consists of three divisions (4 teams per division).

Each division winner advances to either the Championship or Consolation game.

One wild card (highest-ranked non-division winner) advances to the Consolation game.

Scoring System

Win = 2 points Tie = 1 point Loss = 0 points

Championship & Consolation Games

Consolation Game: Ends in a tie if tied after regulation. Championship Game:

  1. One (1) five-minute sudden-death overtime, 3-on-3.
  2. If still tied, a shootout will occur: three shooters per team.
  3. If still tied after three shooters, teams proceed to a sudden-death shootout. (all players must shoot until a player can go again)
    • Home team decides if they will shoot first or second

  • Coin flip

Division Winners Tie Break

Top two highest ranked division winners will advance to the championship game.  The third-place division winner will advance to the consolation game.

Wild Card Tie Break

The highest ranked non-division winner will be deemed the wild card winner.  That team will advance to the consolation game.
