25-26 LEARN TO SKATE SEASON
Learn to Skate USA is the first step in pursuing figure skating, ice hockey, or recreational skating. Group lessons for skaters of every age and skill level — running Saturdays during the Fall and Winter at Ice Line Quad Rinks.
Saturday Schedule
Two recurring time slots every Saturday. Specific session start dates for 26-27 announced in late July.

Each Session Includes
- ✓ Six (6) 30-minute group skating lessons
- ✓ Two (2) 6-Session Public Skate Punch Cards for practice ice

Class Tracks
Four tracks. Same Saturday time slots — the right level for every age and goal.
Snowplow Sam
Intro to skating for young children. Focus on fun, confidence, and safety through games and group play.
- 1 Stand up, march in place, basic balance and dips
- 2 March and glide, backward walking, beginning swizzles
- 3 Forward skating, one-foot glides, backward swizzles, snowplow stop
- 4 Advanced gliding, turns, rocking horse, two-foot hop
After Snowplow Sam 3, skaters may advance to Basic 2 or Hockey 2.
Basic Skills
Foundation for figure skating, hockey, or recreational skating. Each level builds agility, balance, and coordination.
- 1 Stand up, march, two-foot glides, dips, snowplow stops
- 2 One-foot glides, backward swizzles, two-foot turns
- 3 Forward stroking, slalom, backward glides
- 4 Forward edges, crossovers, backward pumps, two-foot spin
- 5 Backward edges/crossovers, three-turns, hockey stop, spins
- 6 Mohawks, one-foot spins, T-stops, spirals, bunny hops
After Basic 6, transition into figure skating, hockey, or performance programs.
Hockey Skating
Skating technique for game situations. No pucks — pure focus on stride, edges, and agility.
- 1/2 Hockey stance, basic glides, swizzles, snowplow stop, forward strides, one-foot glides, backward C-cuts
- 3/4 Crossovers, inside/outside edges, backward stops, quick starts, tight hockey stops
Full hockey equipment not required — hockey skates and a HECC-approved helmet are needed.
Adult Skating
Build skill and confidence at your own pace — whether you’re new to the ice or coming back after years away.
- 1 Marching, swizzles, dips, forward gliding, snowplow stop
- 2 One-foot glides, slalom, backward swizzles, two-foot turns
- 3 Stroking, two-foot turns on circle, chasses, backward gliding
- 4 Edges, crossovers, hockey stop, one-foot glides
- 5 Backward edges/crossovers, three-turns, swing rolls, spins
- 6 Stroking patterns, three-turns, power pulls, lunges, advanced spins
Great for fitness, or as a step toward joining hockey or figure skating programs.
Helmets Required · Ages 4-8
Skaters ages 4 through 8 must wear a helmet on the ice. Bike or hockey helmets are welcome — we do not provide rentals.
